DIRECTOR
In addition to founding JUPITER™ and assuming company leadership roles, Steven is currently the Creative Director of JUPITER Exhibits. He was raised on Long Island and resides in North Brooklyn. Steven grew up in a household that valued the ritual of dressing well. His childhood was his first lesson that we are how we present ourselves. When Steven entered conservative profession in 2009, dressing in traditional menswear for work reinforced that childhood lesson.
In 2011, Steven entered law school while working, and men's fashion became solace during a grueling four-year schedule. He rediscovered vintage movies from the 1960s and 1970s and researched the costume choices of leading men like Sean Connery and Steve McQueen. During Tom Ford's tenure as clothier to James Bond, costume designer Lindy Hemming became a frequent research subject as Steven became interested in the theory behind men's fashion. This education translated to an undeveloped brand idea in 2013 called Rakish based on traditional dress. Rakish is now our line of scents.
In 2017, two years after graduating law school, Steven left the profession to try dealing art. While working for a big bank, he went to SoHo and Chelsea during lunch to pass resumes out for sales roles. A gallery and an internationally renowned Neo-pop artist each gave Steven a chance. In two months with no sales experience, he sold $50,000 in sculpture. Steven went back to law but saw possibility of a future in the Arts.
In 2020, the pandemic affected Steven like many, but he met a transcendent designer during this period who accelerated his learning of alt-spiritual concepts and introduced him to Hudson. Steven had been a life-coaching student for five years before this moment and credits the industry for many breakthroughs in his life. Hudson has become our second home, and alt-spiritual wellness is a major influence in his creative direction.
In 2022, Steven became a motorcyclist. It was motorcycling that triggered him to bring JUPITER to life, and the experience specifically reminded him of 1980s and 1990s cyberpunk media. Steven simply has a dream with no academic or formal training in design. JUPITER™ is about tearing up scripts and dismantling societal expectations. In Steven, we have leadership that authentically practices our values.
